Hello there,
With Matt having served in the Army, Veterans Day holds an especially poignant place in our hearts. We wanted to take a moment to express our deep gratitude to you or any loved ones who have served as well.
Veterans Dan is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the freedoms and blessings we enjoy and to honor those who have sacrificed to protect them. It’s a time to be thankful for the brave men and women who serve to ensure our way of life.
In the spirit of appreciation, we thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about Veterans Day that might surprise you:
🇺🇸 As of 2021, there were 16.5 million veterans living in the U.S., making up about 6.4% of the adult population, according to the Census Bureau.
🇺🇸 Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th each year, commemorating the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” in 1918 when World War I hostilities ended.
🇺🇸 In 2016, President Obama signed the Veterans Day Moment of Silence Act, which calls for a two-minute moment of silence at 2:11 p.m. EST each Veterans Day.
🇺🇸 The New York City Veterans Day Parade, first held in 1919, is the largest and oldest Veterans Day parade in the U.S.
🇺🇸 Originally known as Armistice Day, this holiday began as a celebration of the Allied victory in World War I. In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower renamed it Veterans Day to honor veterans of all wars.
Veterans Day reminds us not only of the sacrifices made by those who have served but also of the courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment they’ve shown in protecting our freedoms. It’s a day to reflect on the countless men and women who have put their lives on the line so that we can enjoy the blessings of liberty.
Now, we’d love to hear from you—are you or a loved one part of a military family? Please let us know so we can personally thank you for your service and the sacrifices you’ve made.
Take Care,
Reina and Matt
